ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Patrick Thompson and I am a character animator and story artist from Washington, DC. I have previously been employed at Bento Box Entertainment in Atlanta and have worked on projects such as Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm (Adult Swim), Koala Man (Hulu) and The Prince (HBO Max). Ever since I was a kid, I have believed interesting and engaging characters were key to grabbing the audience's attention and telling an immersive story. All of my favorite stories were ones with characters that I would try and breakdown to better understand them and their actions and I wanted to create my own characters that could have the same impact on others. Early on, I combined this philosophy with my love of drawing in the form of handmade comic books before realizing animation was the perfect medium for me to tell my stories. In turn, I began making my earliest cartoons around the age of twelve and I haven't looked back!

Since then, animation has become much more than just a hobby. It has become an crucial part of my life. I have worked in both 2D and 3D animation, with a growing interest in puppet animation. I have also experimented with hard surface modeling and storyboarding as part of my classes at Savannah College of Art and Design. As a senior, I served as the director for my capstone film, Welcome to Mercury Bay, which was finished spring 2019.

Aside from animation, I am also a music lover and outer space enthusiast, and these passions often overlap with one another. I feel my experience as a musician has helped contribute to a sense of rhythm and timing.

As a storyteller, I want to immerse my audience in the world I'm crafting and characters are my favorite way of getting people's attention. If I can get people to look at my characters, believe there are deeper thoughts and emotions motivating their actions, and try to decipher them, then I believe I have succeeded in crafting an engaging story.
